I AM MEMPHIS Teams Up With Elite Retailer City Gear USA

MEMPHIS, Tenn. – July 17, 2012 – Eye Am, LLC and City Gear USA today announced the launch of the I Am Memphis, a t-shirt line designed to promote unity, progress and prosperity within the city of Memphis. Designed by Mychal Scott, I Am Memphis is the designer’s first apparel collection and features the signature I Am Memphis t-shirt and hoodies. The collection captures the deeply rooted history of Memphis by featuring an inaugural design that reflects the signs carried during 1968 sanitation workers strike. Scott describes the collection as, "A movement towards a different way of life in Memphis to restore pride in our city. People are begging for it.” The company was formed by a group of friends who all want to show three core values they feel Memphis represents – unity, progress and prosperity. I Am Memphis will donate a portion of the proceeds of each “I Am Memphis” t-shirt sold to positive events, programming and college scholarships for teens in the Memphis area.

It brings me the GREATEST pleasure to welcome you to the OFFICIAL website for the Official I AM MEMPHIS Campaign!

This proud day came with many, many derailments and changes in plans but finally we have made it back online and we are in the process of making our product better than ever and placing EVERYTHING Memphis on the forefront!

It has been our mission since the conception of this brand and idea to unite OUR CITY and restore the pride and privilege it is to be a Memphian. For far too long we have been the image of a broken city; we have been the blame of the death of legendary Civil Rights leader Dr. Martin Luther King; we have been the image and embodiment of death, jealousy and hate, as portrayed on the A&E series First 48.

NOW MEMPHIS, more than ever, is the time to back OUR CITY and reshape its image and our destiny as its native people. Our mission now stands on THREE strong principles: UNITY, PROGRESS AND PROSPERITY. A city without UNITY (support) cannot PROGRESS; and without PROGRESS, a city and the people that dwell within cannot PROSPER.

Therefore, Memphis, I challenge each and every one of our 1.3 million residents to take part and become a part of this movement for the growth, evolution and prosperity of our beautiful city. Because at the end of the day, month, year....whether you have left, returned, or have resided here your entire life....WE ARE MEMPHIS!

 Thanks Memphians!
